Before you start uploading your mp3 files, you must follow these steps when encoding your mp3 files.
When creating music files for your On demand service you must to follow these rules:
1. all your files must be in mp3 format
2. all your files must be encoded with a sample rate of 44100
3. all your files must be encoded at the bitrate you lease with us.
If these steps are not followed then your station will not work correctly.
Now your ready to start uploading your mp3 files to the Basic DJ server. To do this, please follow the instructions below:
FTP host: your-sub-domain.audio-stream.com.
FTP port: 21
FTP username and passwords are the same as what you use to login to the ShoutCast console.
Once logged in, you may upload your MP3 files to
mp3/
This is where you put the MP3 files you would like to be available. By default, SleepyEngineers-Commercial.mp3 comes in the content directory for testing. Shoutcast on demand does support sub-directories within the content directory.
When Listening
Now the users should be able to connect to your "on demand" MP3 files. Shoutcast uses how a browser identifies itself to determine to show the MP3 or not, this is to protect copyrighted files (in theory).
If you are connecting through a browser, or via any link, the URL must be of the form:
http://YOUR_IP:PORT/content/mp3filename.pls
Notice the "/content/" after the port and before the song title. YOUR_IP and PORT are the IP and port of your server. The playlist files are generated dynamically by Shoutcast, so do not worry about them.
To test your set up you can try connecting to yourself:
http://your-sub-domain.audio-stream.com:Port/content/SleepyEngineers-Commercial.pls
If you are connecting directly with Winamp (and only Winamp) you can use the MP3 extension instead of the PLS:
